Abstract:

Diatoms samples in Zayandeh Rood Dam Lake were taken in four stations from surface, 0.5 and 3 m depths of water in three replicate by Nansen sampler. Additional samples were taken from the surface with plankton net. Diatoms samples fixed with 4% formaldehyde and were concentrated and identified using microscope at 400 x. Salinity, NO3, PO4 and SO4 were measured using standard methods (APHA). In the present study, 53 species and 23 genera were identified. Nitzschia was dominant genera with 12 species and Cyclotella meneghiniana Kutz. was dominant species in all stations and seasons. Temperature, pH, EC and DO were measured at site. The study revealed that, the Zayandeh Rood Dam lake is an oligo- mesotrophic water body.

Assessment of Carson Trophic Index in Dam Lake: a Case Study of Ekbatan Dam

Background and purpose: The study aimed to investigate the trophic state of Ekbatan Dam Lake. In the current research, the quality of water behind the dam was studied during the months July and January in order to compare the trophic state and zonation of the reservoir in two different seasons (dry and wet). Materials and Methods: 15 sites were selected in different points of Ekbatan Dam Lak...

Comparative study on Reproductive characteristics of Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782) in Golestan and Voshmgir dam lake

This study conducted to study some biological traits of Carassius gibelio in Golestan dam and Voshmgir dam  from February to September 2015. During the study, 247 specimens from Golestan dam and 208 specimens from Voshmgir dam were sampled using small beach seine. The sex ratio of fish caught from Golestan dam to 1:10/23 and  the sex ratio of fish caught from the dam Voshmgir1: 10/56. The highe...

Sedimentology of the of Zayandeh-Rood River alluvial Terraces and the sediment source identification

In this research, three alluvial Terraces that are located in pathway of Zayandeh-Rood River are studied. The river starts from Bakhtiayri Zardkoh mountain and after through Esfahan city ends to Gawkhony lake. Age of alluvial terraces is younger in upstream than downstream and the height level of the terraces decrease relative to current river bed toward the downstream. The terraces were sample...

Evaluation of Evaporation Estimation Methods: a Case Study of Karaj Dam Lake

Evaporation is one of the largest water losses from most of the dam lakes in Iran. Estimating the evaporation rate enables us to apply the proper evaporation mitigation technologies. In this study, the feasibility of different evaporation estimation methods was studied to find an optimum method with a fair tradeoff between cost and accuracy. The optimum method may vary depending on the climate....
